Not such a “dumb blonde” afterall!
I was never in to Jessica Simpson’s music - sure a song here and there, like this m.f. gem - but she was always so goddam beautiful, you just can’t look away! The late 90s and early 00s were all about virgin culture, and Jessica was about that #GodBlessIGuess. That said, I def watched Newlyweds because she and Nick Lachey were super cute together. They are both super cute with their now-spouses.
J. Simps was on top of the world in 2004/5/6. Soon after I moved to Colorado in 2008, thanks to a huge discount through my job at the GAP, which at the time owned Piperlime (RIP), I spotted these amazing tall, brown heeled boots with black piping. I wear them still, b/c I take care of my shit!, and I still get compliments on them every time I wear them. So, when Jessica’s company reached $1 billion in sales, I was not surprised. My boots are great quality, reasonably comfortable and good balance in a shoe/boot with such a high heel, these items were at a decent price point, and my glorious boots have paid for themselves in compliments over the years.
More recently, there’s been headlines about Jessica and her mom, Tina Simpson, buying back the company. Over at Bloomberg.com, Stephanie Clifford and Eliza Ronalds-Hannon detail these moves.
The Simpsons weren’t worried that another party might outbid them. Whatever the world had thought of Jessica’s business sense, or Tina’s, for that matter, the duo had made a shrewd move when they signed their initial operating deal with Sequential—inserting a clause that didn’t allow the company to sell the brand from under them without their consent. Sure, another bidder could make an offer, but without the Simpsons’ blessing, it would be pointless.
I mean, what is sexier than a contract?! My Jessica Simpson boots???? 🥳🙏🏼
Good for them for making big huge moves and cheers to the future!
