SUPERNANNY BENDER

OK, so this is all b/c of a post on Saint Hoax’s IG page that reminded me the show Supernanny existed. Suffice to say, I have been on a bender watching episodes and clips on the ol’ YouTube. I’m at a point where I’m watching these episodes at 2x speed so I can….watch more episodes. OMG save meeeeeeeeeee.

However, I stan Jo Frost, Supernanny. She is so practical, she takes zero crap, she’s wonderful with both parents and kids, and is a great facilitator for hard conversations. My fave things to see are two things:

  1. When little girls are psychotic/out of control b/c, well, we are. I believe in equal opportunity ass-hole-ness.

  2. When parents get mouthy or mad at Jo Frost and I just think, “Oh nooooo, Chad and Brenda from Bluffington, Indiana, here it comes!!” and Jo hands said parents’ ass right back to them. Like, literally why did you call her if you have issues with change? There are cameras.

This TV program ultimately shows me that we’re all just big kids trying to figure it out, even well after we become “adults” at the relatively arbitrary age of 18. We all need a “time out”, we all need a few notches in the “better communication” direction, we all want to know the why behind the things we’re told we “have” to do (hellooooo work!! haha. Ugh….)

Plus, kids are fun, but child care is definitely the Pits of Thanklessness a lot of the time, and I feel for parents and other caretakers who hate that part of life.

But, as Jo points out: you had kids, you still have kids, so here we are, and you need to deal with it!!

I don’t have kids of my own, but I take my Auntie role pretty seriously and jump in here and there with a “Hey, no thank you, Chad, Jr., do not talk to mommy/daddy like that.” or “Excuse me, you listen to your parent when she tells you to get down!”

To all my friends who are now parents: don’t worry, you’re still the same [adjectives I’ll keep to myself ;)] person to me deep down inside, you just punched out a few kids from your vag / dropped your pants and got someone preggs, way2go!!!

Anyway, Supernanny for life!
