May the quiche be with you!
I love cooking and these days, ya girl loves a good quiche.
My mom made quiche a lot for brunches and those simple-but-not-too-fancy events of life, so not only is quiche a quintessential dish from the 1970s, it has some sentimentality to me, too.
Though I do consider myself a baker, I have not yet mastered homemade pie crust. I know that will come with practice, but when Pillsbury makes such delightful pie crusts, not to mention homemade crust calls for “Crisco” - a product from the 1950s, the supplies of which was all packaged up until infinity and you cannot tell me otherwise - why should I bother?? ….I’ll bother b/c it’s what Auntie Ina, Martha, and them would want for me.
A quiche is a great way to use up veggies and other ingredients in the fridge. Super bonus, my spouse doesn’t really like this kind of food so it’s all for me, baby!! This week will be some leftover onions, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes in oil, and whatever g.d. cheese I have, along with the necessary milk and eggs.
Quiche-essential. It’s happening, it’s a phrase, here we go.
