Whewww, another week!

This week flew by! Fine by me b/c my wedding anniversary is on Monday! Wooooooooo

What I’ve been paying attention to this week:

  • Another Nazi died. (Prince Phillip).

  • The real R.I.P. today goes to Earl Simmons aka DMX. I have spent many hours listening to his music as I got my fitness on. The road to recovery/sobriety is long and hard. Shout outs to those trying to stay sober, especially these days. God bless all of DMX’s children.

  • Derek Chauvin still sucks, his defense sucks, it’s like the country is getting punk’d right now having to watch a trial about a murder that happened in broad daylight and on video. Of course I’m a due process and free speech die hard, but WOWOWOWOWOWWWWWW will the streets burn if this ass hole gets acquitted.

  • I’m enjoying EVERY. SINGLE. SENTENCE. reported on Rep. Matt Gaetz and his stupid sex trafficking fuckboi, fuckshit, ass hole decisions. Venmo, dude? You used Venmo to pay for [minor] sex workers? I have a line that I will say, and that’s “Worst spy ever.” Some people will just never get it together in a real way. Thank God for Matty’s stupidity, used his own rope to hang himself if you will, Bless the folks he and his cohorts exploited, I hope they get all the support they need! Sex work is work! Don’t be mean to kids/minors!

  • The Trial of the Chicago 7 was pretty good over on the Netflix. It’s an Aaron Sorkin film through and through, therefore it’s QUITE proud of itself. All the same, it shows what a kangaroo court the US Justice System can be, you see the appeal practically write itself as the scenes go on (I’ll trust someone like Sorkin used actual court transcript dialogue instead of writing his own).

  • Sound of Metal was INCREDIBLE! Riz Ahmed is such a babe and just takes your heart. Watch it via Amazon Prime.

  • Colorado has opened up COVID vaccine availability to the rest of us plebes. My homestead is all signed up to be alerted on available appointments, but no luck scoring and confirming an appointment just yet. I trust we’ll get shot no. 1 by the end of this month, for sure.

  • TV I’m enjoying and working through:

    • Killing Eve with my main squeeze Sandra Oh.

    • Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi (I catch myself actually staring at this woman, like MY GOD, WHAT’S IT LIKE TO WALK AROUND SO BEAUTIFUL?!??!?)

    • Revisiting Will & Grace b/c it’s there.

    • Various HBO documentaries, to whit: The BeeGees, Tina Fucking Turner!, Allen v. Farrow (lordy….) and I will engorge that Q-Anon documentary, too. It’s like HBO has the time and bandwidth to make amazing docs since Game of Thrones is all done HAHA / wahhh.

    • I watched Disclosure on Netflix and it was quite compelling and I highly recommend it. I am resolved to do better for the trans community. One small way is adding my preferred pronouns to all profiles I can and being sure to ask someone’s preferred pronouns. And, of course, calling out transphobic awfulness b/c whatever with others’ comfortable bigotry. We all need to do better.

  • Really glad the weather is picking up. Not that I’m going outside, I’m just glad.

  • Reading:

    • MILK BLOOD HEAT by Dantiel W. Moniz.

    • Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino.

      • I’m gonna read this in the tub. The essays are hefty and long, in a good way, so the tubby tub will be best. All the more reason to take a bath and get my face mask routine on!

      • I will read ANYTHING by Jia T.! Huge fan of hers since her Jezebel days.

    • Orphans of the Living: Stories of America’s Children in Foster Care, by Jennifer Toth.

    • I swear, I’ll get to A Tradition of Violence: The History of Deputy Gangs in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department by Cerise Castle via Knock-La. I just….I will. I’ll do it.
